The Viper Star Brushes are designed to be “sandwiched” between the Viper Rod base and the attachment knob. Star Brushes are available in a variety of bristles for every sweeping situation. These Perlon Star Brushes are made of a heat-tolerant (122º F), black plastic fiber for light sweeping in stainless steel chimneys.

Viper Perlon Star Brush
I found the brush way too soft to do a decent job of cleaning out a 6” stainless steel chimney liner for my wood stove. Even after multiple passes it left way too much soot behind. This style brush may work well for cleaning dryer ducts, but certainly doesn’t have the bristle stiffness in chimneys.
