Application Instructions:
- Cut the nozzle tip at an angle to the desired opening size and insert the cartridge into a standard caulking gun.
- Fill the crack or hole with fireplace mortar, then smooth the surface using a putty knife dipped in water.
- Protect freshly applied mortar from direct contact with water until it has been fully heat cured.
- Allow the mortar to air dry for at least 24 hours, but no longer than 30 days, before heat curing.
- Start a low fire, keeping the temperature below 210°F until the mortar has dried thoroughly.
- Gradually increase the temperature and heat the mortar at 500°F for 1–2 hours to complete the final cure.
Important Application Notes:
- For cracks or joints deeper than 1/8 inch, apply the mortar in layers rather than filling the entire depth at once.
- Allow 24 hours of curing time between each layer.
- Once the mortar is tack-free, follow the recommended heat-curing process to complete the repair.
- For deeper cracks, use RUTLAND Castable Refractory Cement, Item #600/601.
